The 74LS299 is an 8-bit universal shift/storage register with 3-STATE outputs. Four modes of operation are possible: hold (store), shift left, shift right and load data. The parallel load inputs and flip-flop outputs are multiplexed to reduce the total number of package pins. Separate outputs are provided for flip-flops Q0 and Q7 to allow easy cascading. A separate active LOW Master Reset is used to reset the register

The F74 is a dual D-type flip-flop with Direct Clear and Set inputs  and  complementary  (Q,  Q)  outputs.  Information  at the input is transferred to the outputs on the positive edge of the clock pulse. Clock triggering occurs at a voltage level of the clock pulse and is not directly related to the transition time of the positive-going pulse. After the Clock Pulse input threshold  voltage  has  been  passed,  the  Data  input  is locked out and information present will not be transferred to the  outputs  until  the  next  rising  edge  of  the  Clock  Pulse input.

The 74F164 is an 8-bit edge-triggered shift register with serial data entry and an output from each of the eight stages. Data is entered through one of two inputs (Dsa, Dsb); either input can be used as an active High enable for data entry through the other input. Both inputs must be connected together or an unused input must be tied High. Data shifts one place to the right on each Low-to-High transition of the clock (CP) input, and enters into Q0 the logical AND of the two data inputs (Dsa, Dsb) that existed one setup time before the rising edge. A Low level on the Master Reset (MR) input overrides all other inputs and clears the register asynchronously, forcing all outputs Low.
